Notes by Erik Voskamp the Dutch Rum Ambassador.
Robust and complex nose with roasted nuts, some vanilla and toffee and slightly fruity but also spicy.
The taste is certainly not as heavy as the nose suggests, first a little sweet cane sugar, then a little dry with a tannin idea, delicious at the back of the throat with a little nutmeg.
Not a very long finish, but nice with vanilla and toffee.

Robert (the Dutch Pirate's Grog inventor) suggests a Mulled Rum Cider rum cocktail
Ingredients (serves 5):
* 250ml Pirate's Grog Five Year (the most important ingredient, of course)
* 250ml Premium Dry Cider
* 1.25L Fresh Apple Juice (we recommend cloudy apple)
* 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger, Whole Cloves
* 1 Cinnamon Stick
*Apple Slices & Orange Wedges
Head to your liquorist and buy our 5 year rum (obviously)
Once you have our rum in your piratey mits, then...pour the apple juice and the cider into a large pan on a low heat and let it warm through for a few minutes. Add all the spices and fruit and simmer for 5-8 minutes. Add the rum and leave to cool to the perfect drinking temperature.
